Our Teachers

Daniel DeGrood:

Many things can be used to describe the passion we have for something or someone. Yoga has become my passion and I enjoy sharing it with everyone. I have been teaching for 9 years, 4 here in Vietnam. Let me tell you how I got here….. When I was 20 years old I injured my lower back and was in severe pain every day. I went to many doctors to get tests done in the hopes of finding a way to fix my back. Well, mostly it was about making the pain go away. The answers the doctors gave each time were, “…well, you will need to have surgery to correct the problem or you will have pain for the rest of your life. I did not believe this was the answer, so I started to search for alternative ways to heal back injuries and found 3 things. Yoga, Massage and Chiropractic treatment together released the pain from my body. Massage will help the muscles to relax and unwind at a very deep level. Chiropractic treatment is a way to make sure the bones are aligned in the correct position. These 2 things with my Yoga practice restored balance to my body. This took over 5 years to accomplish and even now things are always changing within the body. Once the pain was gone, I had to find new ways to inspire myself to continue my path toward health and well being. I started yoga to heal my pain… then it became my passion. It could do the same for you.

I began my yoga training in California in 2000 and began teaching in 2001. I soon became the main teacher and manager for the “Hot Yoga Studio” in Orange County, CA. I began teaching the well know style of Hatha Yoga called “Bikram Yoga” otherwise known as “Hot Yoga” which is a style that combines 28 postures and is practiced in a very hot room. After additional training with Bryan Kest, Ana Forrest and Richard Freeman, I started teaching “Vinyasa yoga”. This is a creative flowing style of movement based on the Ashtanga Yoga system, in which you move your body in and out of yoga postures using the same rhythm as your breath. Some other Vinyasa styles are… Power Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Flow Yoga and considered to be a great physical workout and stress reducer. Come try each teacher & style of classes we have. Find what you like and learn more.

Tip: If you feel tension in your body at any time…… take a few moments to sit quietly, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Smile. J

Michelle Lloyd:

As my journey in yoga evolves, it continues to be a beautiful thing to watch how yoga has organically grown from a physical practice once or twice a week after work into an all-encompassing form of living, letting go, dreaming, breathing and quieting the mind both on and off the mat.

I received my 200 hour certification from: It’s Yoga in San Francisco, California. The training was with Larry Schultz, a charismatic, inspiring and thoughtful practitioner of Ashtanga yoga.  I hope to serve as a guide, helping illuminate the many aspects of yoga to those who cross my path so they too may find their own course, their shift in perception and inspiration for tapping into this peace as well.  It is a unique and special journey for each and every being and a journey that will continue to grow and evolve, have its heights and depths, opportunities and obstacles, clarity and cloudiness….. it’s all part of the ride.  Enjoy!

I teach Vinyasa flow. This is a series of flowing, conscious movements connected by breath, aimed to detoxify, strengthen, stretch and balance the body and mind.  No class will be exactly the same, making each class challenging, creative and meditative.   By the end of a session, you will feel as though you have just given yourself a massage from the inside out.
